“ELIMINATING” RACISM AT SGI
The Saskatchewan Coalition Against Racism (SCAR) will be marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, March 21st, by showing our support for Suzanne Mayer who was terminated from her job at the Estevan office of Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) after challenging the discrimination she was, and continues to be, subjected to within that office. Ms. Mayer is a member of the Okanese First Nation. SCAR will be calling on the Minister responsible for SGI and SGI administration to, not only make things right for Ms. Mayer, but to ensure that all employees at SGI are able to work in an environment free from the scourge of racism and other forms of discrimination.
SCAR will be distributing information to SGI employees and to the general public on March 21 in front of SGI’s head office at 11th Avenue and Lorne St. in Regina and will be holding a media conference at 1:00 PM at that same location with Ms. Mayer in attendance.
